PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a helmet having an easy adjusting operation of its head band length. SOLUTION: This helmet is provided by being equipped with a head band 12 at the inside of its protective cap body 11, and fixing the one ends of strings under ears 13, 14 passing around under the ears of a wearer 30 at the head band 12. The both end parts of the head band 12 are connected with an adjusting mechanism 15 for adjusting its length. The both ends of the head band 12 are extended from the adjusting mechanism 15, and the tip ends of them are joined with the other ends of the strings under the ears 13, 14. By pulling a release button 17 in rear direction while pushing it, the ratchet joint of the adjusting mechanism is released to slack the tightening of the head band, and by leaving the release button, the adjusting mechanism 15 performs a ratchet joining. By pulling the strings under the ears 13, 24 in lower direction under that state, the position of the ratchet joint changes for shortening the head band and the band becomes tight.
