The controller has a control device (1) from which a windshield wiper motor receives control signals, where a windshield wiper is driven by the motor. The device evaluates brake signals of a motor vehicle. The wiper is activated upon detection of full brake application of the vehicle. The application is detected on exceeding a preset high deceleration value corresponding to the application, or during blockage of wheels of the vehicle.
