PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device for controlling light exposure for every light in each color while preventing the increase of costs. SOLUTION: This image reading device is provided with a light source 3 for emitting the rays of lights R, G and B, a color CCD area sensor 5, an A/D converter 8, image data memories 9, 10 and 11, a digital processing circuit 12 and a controller 17. The controller 17 controls a light source 3 to successively turn on the rays of lights R, G and B, and controls the digital processing circuit 12 to operate data processing to image data stored in another memory among the image data memories 9, 10 and 11 while image data generated according to the rays of light in color emitted from the i-th light source among the rays of light R, G and B while the i-th light source is turned on are inputted to a corresponding memory among the memories 9, 10 and 11.
