PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display apparatus that can improve display characteristics. SOLUTION: The apparatus has organic insulating layer patterns 140, 150 partially disposed in non-display areas PA1, PA2 surrounding a display area DA where an image is displayed. A space where the organic insulating layer is not formed between the patterns 140, 150 functions as a passage to exhaust air trapped when a first substrate 100 is combined with a second substrate 200. Therefore, the display apparatus can rapidly exhaust the air trapped when the first substrate 100 is combined with the second substrate 200 and can maintain a uniform cell gap, improving display characteristics.
