<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing apparatus which creates an image of a development view suitable for a diagnosis from a medical image acquired by imaging an internal surface of a tubular region such as an esophagus. <P>SOLUTION: Image data of a subject such as the esophagus imaged by an endoscope is loaded. After the image data is preprocessed on, a straight line passing through a center of a three-dimensional configuration is estimated by calculating a three-dimensional position, corresponding to each pixel, on the subject. A transformation parameter of a coordinate system using the straight line as a reference is calculated. The development view is created by projecting pixels of an image surface on a surface of a cylindrical body close to the size of the subject. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
