<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an actuator that presses a plurality of circuit contacts mounted on a microcircuit package. <P>SOLUTION: The actuator has a frame having a top surface and a bottom face opposite the top surface. The frame has two edge slots and each slot intersects the top surface at the opposite edges. A load foot is held to apply a force to the microcircuit by the bottom face of the frame. Two latch components respectively attached in the two edge slots of the frame is movable between a latch position and a latch releasing position in the two edge slots of the frame. Each latch component holds the edge of an aligning plate at the latch position and releases the position plate at the latch releasing position. A driving component mounted on the top surface of the frame receives the force of manual operation to converts the received force into a force applied to the latch components.
