PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing apparatus which supports a virtual play list formation by a user, by utilizing scanning performance instructions by a point changing a scene and the user in a stream detected at reproduction. SOLUTION: The recording reproducing apparatus consists of a CPU 3, a pickup 4, a decoder 2, a memory 5, and a remote control receiver 6. The decoder 2 always analyzes the content of the stream during the reproducing, and sends time entry of a scene changing point to the CPU 3, when the point is detected. When the scanning performance is performed near the scene changing point of the streams detected at reproducing of AV stream, a zone inserted between the scene changing point near the scanning performance start point and the scanning performance end point is saved as a partial blanked-out candidate zone from an original play list. It outputs to a screen, by making the zone saved in the virtual play list formation screen into the partial blanked-out candidate zone after the reproducing end. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
