PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power amplifier for wireless system with which high power efficiency is ensured, even at the time of low transmission power, while taking account of distortion of the entire wireless system. SOLUTION: The power amplifier comprises a first amplifying section capable of controlling the operating angle and outputting a false rectangular signal containing harmonic components of an input signal, a second amplifying section receiving the output signal from the first amplifying section and outputting an amplification signal, a harmonic processing section receiving a pseudo-rectangular signal from the second amplifying section and outputting its fundamental wave, a means for detecting the distortion components contained in the output signal from the harmonic processing section or in the input signal, and a section for controlling the operating angle of the first amplifying section, such that the distortion components detected by the distortion detecting means have predetermined reference level or lower.
