<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric ceramic composition capable of improving both of the piezoelectric characteristics and the coercive electric field; and a piezoelectric ceramic electronic component manufactured by using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The piezoelectric ceramic composition for forming a ceramic element 4 contains, as a main component, a composite perovskite-type compound expressed by general formula:xBiMeO<SB>3</SB>-yPbZrO<SB>3</SB>-(1-x-y)PbTiO<SB>3</SB>(wherein, Me is Sc or In; x and y have each the following range:0.00<x<0.30; 0<y<1.00; and 0.30<(x+y)<1.00) and at least one kind of element selected from Nb, Ta, Sb and W in an amount of 0.001-3.0 mol per 100 mol of the main component is contained. The main component may be obtained by forming a solid-solution by adding zPb(M1<SB>1/3</SB>M2<SB>2/3</SB>)O<SB>3</SB>(wherein, M1 is Ni, Mg or Zn; and M2 is Nb, Ta or Sb) to the compound expressed by the general formula. Further, it is preferable that Ag or Cu is incorporated in an amount of 0.001-3.0 wt.%. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
