<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form through-holes in a region except for a mounting region of LED in a printed board, to lighten the printed board, and to lighten a large display device. <P>SOLUTION: In a vertical LCD back light, a light emitting diode 2 (LED) is mounted on the upper face of the printed board 1 having insulation, the periphery of the side of LED 2 is surrounded with a frame member 3, and a diffusion plate 4 is arranged on the upper face of the frame member 3. The through-holes 5 are formed in prescribed positions except for the LED mounting region on the printed board 1. A reflection sheet 6 is stuck to a whole face except for the LED mounting region so that it covers the through-holes 5. Utilization efficiency of light of LED 2 is improved and the printed board 1 becomes light since the through-holes 5 are dug out. Thus, the device can be lightened.
