PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a polyvinyl alcohol film having excellent transportation properties and no optical defect, which correspond to the enlargement of width and continuous length; and to provide a method for producing such the polyvinyl alcohol film. SOLUTION: The polyvinyl alcohol film has a film thickness of 30-70μm and a kinetic friction coefficient against stainless-steel roll of not more than 0.03. The method for producing such the polyvinyl alcohol film comprises (A) a step for preparing an aqueous solution of a polyvinyl alcohol resin, containing a surfactant and having 60-90 wt.% water content, and (B) a step for producing the polyvinyl alcohol film having≤5 wt.% water content by using the aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol resin by a cast method, wherein, the vaporization rate of the water in the aqueous solution of the polyvinyl alcohol resin is 15-30 wt.%/min.
