A disk identification device capable of reliably preventing insertion of two disks into the device, a disk loading/ejection device, and a disk device. The disk identification device has a disk thickness detection means (109, 110) for detecting the thickness of a disk (300) inserted in a disk device (100) and has a construction for electrically identifying whether the disk (300) inserted into the device is a single disk or plural disks. A mechanism is controlled based on the result of the identification to realize stable disk loading and ejection and to reduce damage on the mechanism and the disk.
