DEVICE FOR IMPARTING WHIRLING MOTION ON AIR FLOW FOR SUPPLYING TURBO-CHARGED INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device for imparting a whirling motion on an air flow for supplying a turbo-charged internal combustion engine.

SOLUTION: The device is designed to be interposed in a duct 20 for supplying air to the upstream side of a supercharger 5 for supercharging the engine. The device has an elbow-shaped portion of the duct 20 and a partializing means 23. The partializing means 23 can limit a section of a passage in an upstream branch 21 of the elbow-shaped portion to an area which constitutes a fraction of the total section of the duct 20 and is adjacent to a wall of the duct 20. Therefore, a downstream branch 22 of the elbow-shaped portion is reached by a tangential flow creating a helical air flow in the downstream branch 22.
