<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of outputting a printed image having high image quality, even if an image formation conditions change. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus is provided with a pattern density sensor 35, functioning as a density detection means for optically detecting the reflection density of a pattern image for control formed on a photoreceptor drum 1, functioning as an image carrier on the downstream side of an abutting part between the photoreceptor drum 1 and a sweep roller 32, functioning as an excess developer removing member, and a bias power source 36 functioning as a voltage applying means for generating electric field between the sweep roller 32 and an image forming part on the photoreceptor drum 1.
