PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent image persistence, while maintaining visibility in a screen that displays character information. SOLUTION: A telop display process is executed in a display terminal 100. In the process, a telop color determining process is executed by a color selecting module, and display colors are determined in each telop data. The color selecting module generates candidates of display colors to keep contrast between a preliminarily designated character color and a background color, as well as selects a candidate among the candidates that can most effectively compensate deviation in the background colors in a display screen based on background color history data managed by appropriate updating by a background color history managing module, and determines the character color of the telop and the background color.
