PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ejection device constituted so that an ejected cassette is easily grasped regardless of the size of the cassette, and to provide a radiation image reader. SOLUTION: An image reading head 8 is provided inside a housing 2, and a radiation image is read by scanning a stimulable phosphor sheet housed in the cassette 90 by the image reading head 8. After reading the image, an elevation motor 42 is actuated by a controller 10, whereby an elevating/lowering base 41 is elevated and the cassette 90 placed on the elevating/lowering base 41 is ejected from an insertion/ejection port 23. When the size of the cassette 90 is read/detected by a bar code reader 24 and the cassette 90 is projected by as long as projection length corresponding to the size, the controller 10 stops the elevation motor 42.
