PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of manufacturing a coat with a crack pattern having high design effects of the pattern so as to improve competitive power of the product. SOLUTION: The method comprises applying an underlying coating, other than two-liquid coatings, diluted with a thinner to the surface of an object article to form an underlying coating film, allowing the coated article to stand at ordinary temperature for a specified time, applying, to the underlying coating film, a middle coating comprising a material of a shrinkage rate on drying higher than that of the underlying coating and diluted with a thinner to form a middle coating film and allowing the coated article to stand at ordinary temperature for a specified time or heating and retaining the coated article with a drier to form a coat with a crack pattern.
