PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal printer which is reduced in size and is enhanced in fixing efficiency. SOLUTION: Thermal color developing layers of yellow and magenta which are laminated on a color thermal recording sheet 2 are overlapped in a part of wavelength range having the fixing property. A semiconductor laser element outputs the laser light within the overlapped wavelength range. In fixing the yellow thermal color developing layer, the laser light is made incident at a large incident angle on the color thermal recording sheet 2 to fix only the yellow thermal color developing layer so as to cause no effects on the magenta thermal color developing. In fixing the magenta thermal color developing layer, the laser light is made incident substantially vertically on the color thermal recording sheet 2 for fixing. COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
