Device has soot filter (9) arranged in the exhaust tract (6,7,10) and a control device (13) which evaluates a measuring signal of the soot sensor (8) and thus adjusts the operating parameter of combustion engine (1). Control device uses measuring signal as an actual value and adjusts the soot discharge of combustion engine on predetermined actual set value. An independent claim is also included for the method for control of the pollutant discharge of self igniting combustion engine.
