<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the constitution of a cleaning device, capable of deciding whether it is under circumstances that a cleaning blade is easily vibrated, even when changing the constitution of the cleaning device pressure being the abutting condition of the cleaning blade, a method for supporting a blade holder and the thickness of the core bar of a photoreceptor drum, or even when switching toner or the photoreceptor. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus has an image carrier, on which an electrostatic latent image is formed and a development device which develops the electrostatic latent image as a toner image, a transfer means which transfers the toner image formed on the surface of the image carrier to a recording medium and the cleaning blade which removes the toner remaining on the surface of the image carrier, and is equipped with a drive device which drives and rotates the image carrier.
