<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a negative electrode material of a lithium secondary battery and its manufacturing method. <P>SOLUTION: The negative electrode material is at least one silicon particle, and the silicon particle has a silicon core coated with a coating layer having at least one metal oxide. The metal oxide is preferably titanium oxide, zirconium oxide, or the combination of them.
