[Also in Division E2] A seat has an angularly adjustable back rest 13 provided with a pair of semicircular toothed members 16 the teeth of which are adapted to mesh with internal teeth on a member 14 which is fixed to a seat frame 12. Toothed members 16 have slots 17 engaged by guide pins 15 on back rest 13. The teeth on members 14, 16 are normally held in engagement by a cam 24 and are urged by coil springs 18 to a disengaged position when cam 24 is turned by a rod 28, Fig. 5 (not shown). A spring 25 is provided for urging cam 24 to a position in which it holds the teeth in mesh and also to urge back rest 13 to overlie the seat proper when the teeth are out of mesh. |
