<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an active material preferably used for a lithium secondary battery of high capacity, manufacturing method of the same, and the lithium secondary battery using the same. <P>SOLUTION: The active material is composed of a complex compound expressed by Li<SB>x</SB>M<SB>2</SB>O<SB>4-a</SB>F<SB>a</SB>, wherein, 2<x≤7, 0.5≤a≤1.5, and M is one kind of element selected from Fe, Mn, Co, Ni, Ti, V, and Cu. The active material has preferably an amorphous structure and is preferably the one expressed by Li<SB>x</SB>Mn<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>F (2<x≤7), Li<SB>x</SB>Fe<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>F (2<x≤7), or Li<SB>x</SB>Co<SB>2</SB>O<SB>3</SB>F (2<x≤7).
