<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suspend and resume quickly an optical output of an optical transmitter. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmitter 10 controls the optical output of a laser diode to a predetermined value by a closed loop configured by a laser diode 12 which forms the optical output, a drive circuit 14 which drives the laser diode in response to a control signal, an output monitor unit 16 which forms a monitor signal corresponding to the optical output, and a controller 22 which forms the control signal according to the monitor signal. The optical transmitter includes a switch 26 which shuts off the closed loop in response to a shutdown signal input from an outside, a means 26 for supplying a luminescence stop signal as the control signal to the drive circuit in response to the shutdown of the closed loop, and a means 23 for providing the closed loop with a control initial value as the above predetermined value in response to the shutdown of the closed loop. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
