PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an organic electroluminescence element in which green to blue luminescence is possible by making a luminescence wavelength short. SOLUTION: The organic electroluminescence element contains a light emitting layer containing a flat surface 4 coordination metal complex and a host material between a pair of electrodes. The host material contains a mother nucleus, the metal of the flat surface 4 coordination metal complex, and a coordination group that can be arranged with the 4 metal complex.
