The invention relates to a system for improving cargo container management and control and for increasing security. The inventive system comprises a control unit having the following elements associated therewith, namely: auto-weighing means, GPS-based position-finding means, sealing means and means for indicating improper handling. Said control unit can be used for the continuous monitoring of the seal and for the electronic identification of the container. In turn, the auto-weighing means comprise a hydraulic power system which is associated with hydraulic cylinders on which load cells are positioned. The invention prevents theft, improves auto-identification and prevents the introduction of improper merchandise.
