An insertion section for an endoscope, in which, when the insertion section is inserted into a body cavity, the amount of illumination light sufficient to observe the inside of the body cavity can be obtained without complex operation, and thereby smoother observation can be performed, wherein, in the insertion, the top-bottom direction of a curvature of a curved section of the endoscope is aligned with the top-bottom direction, which is the up-down direction in the vertical direction, of a monitor screen. An insertion section for an endoscope, according to the first mode of the invention, is provided with an insertion section having a tip and a curved section that is capable of being bent in a first direction substantially matching the top-bottom direction of an endoscope image displayed on the monitor; two imaging sections each having an imaging element for obtaining the endoscope image; at least two observation optical systems arranged at the tip and individually collecting light that is incident in the at least two imaging sections; and an illumination optical system provided at the tip and emitting light that is supplied from an illumination section. The illumination optical system is positioned relative to the at least two observation optical systems such that the center of the illumination optical system is positioned above, in the first direction, an end section in the bottom direction of either of the observation optical systems in which the end section in the bottom direction is positioned below the other observation optical system.
|
