<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a night vision system and a method of enhancing driving safety of a vehicle by preventing blindness of the night vision system while reducing the complexity of the device and cost. <P>SOLUTION: A selection attenuation filters (27, 52) forms a radiation illumination beam (56) using corresponding optical attenuation matrices (32, 33) according to a primary illumination beam (54). A sensor (31) detects an object and produces an object detection signal. A controller (35) is connected to the selection attenuation filters (27, 52) and the sensor (31).
