PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication apparatus that can achieve data communication without using their identifiers and by changing various settings, and to provide a communication method. SOLUTION: The present invention is applied to communication apparatuses 1 and 2 which have no IP address, and each communication device is connected to a terminal having an IP address through a communication interface 11 for a LAN. The IP address of the terminal and the IP address of another terminal are paired and stored in a table storage portion 14 and packets generated through IP layer processing are sent and received between other communication apparatuses 2 and 1 having no IP addresses to send and receive setting information to and from the communication apparatuses 1 and 2.
