PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control device for a magnetic head for adjusting flying height of the magnetic head in order to make clearance between the disk and the magnetic head constant in a data reading mode and a data writing mode in a disk drive. SOLUTION: The control device for the magnetic head is equipped with the disk for storing information; a magnetic head 16, which is equipped with a magnetic reading element for sensing the magnetic field on the disk and a magnetic writing element for magnetizing the disk, a structure for generating an air bearing surface between the disk surface and the magnetic reading element and the magnetic writing element, and a heater 26 for heating the structure for forming the air bearing surface; and a current supply circuit 280 for supplying the current determined to maintain the clearance between a disk 12 and the magnetic head 16 constant in the writing mode and the reading mode to the heater.
