PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for aligning an optical servo system used in digital storage media. SOLUTION: The apparatus and method include an alignment apparatus and alignment test targets, and methods of using them to align the light source outputs of the optical servo system. The alignment test target may comprise an alignment test tape. The alignment test tape may be used to generate an output signal indicative of optical servo system alignment, and this signal may be used to align the light source outputs of the optical servo system.
