OPTICAL DISK REPRODUCING METHOD AND OPTICAL DISK DRIVE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk reproducing method and an optical disk drive which can improve the reproduction compatibility between various optical disk drives by enabling the correction of the substantial changes in defect transition decision thresholds even when reproducing an optical disk recorded in another optical disk drive by using a format having an optical disk defect control function. SOLUTION: This is an optical disk reproducing method (S11-S14) to reproduce the optical disk recorded in a format having an optical disk defect control function, and changes (S17-S21) the defect detection levels to operate the defect control function based on the defect control information (S15-S16) made by the defect control function of an optical disk.
