PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To immediately prepare the outline dimensions or the like of an escalator from the required specification from a building side. SOLUTION: In a design system of an escalator in which terminal devices 30, etc., are connected singly to a design support device 10 or connected to the design support device 10 via a communication line 20, the design support device 10 comprises an outline dimension calculation means 101 for calculating the primary outline dimension of the escalator from specification information from its own input means 11 or the terminal device 30, and the preset truss width and the specified truss depth, a determination means 103 to determine the necessity of the intermediate support from the primary outline dimension and the support reference data, and a support position determination means 104 which selects the smallest positional dimension of the truss longitudinal beam out of the positional dimensions of a plurality of truss longitudinal beams to be predetermined to the substantial dimension for the intermediate support installation from the input means or the terminal device and determines the position for intermediate support installation when the determination means determines that the intermediate support is necessary.
