A battery assembly (100) comprises a battery (10) and a housing (20) adapted for use in an environment often exposed to water. The housing (20) preferably has recessed portions (28) spaced far apart at the top end (22a) thereof, with electrical terminals (29) disposed in the recessed portions (28). The recessed portions (28) are configured to securely receive corresponding downward-facing compartments (14) disposed at the top (10b) of the battery (10), wherein the compartments (14) have recessed openings (14c) housing electrical terminals (16). Accordingly, the electrical terminals (29) of the housing (20) are configured to contact the electrical terminals (16) of the battery (10) when the battery's compartments (14) are disposed in the housing's recessed portions (28), forming a substantially watertight seal.
