Disclosed is a method for producing an internal olefin wherein an a-olefin is stably isomerized by using a low-cost zeolite catalyst while suppressing oligomerization reaction. Specifically disclosed is a method for producing an internal olefin wherein an a-olefin having 16-18 carbon atoms is passed through a zeolite catalyst bed for isomerization. In this method, before starting the isomerization reaction, an a-olefin having 16-18 carbon atoms is circulated through and brought into contact with the zeolite catalyst bed.
