In an exhaust emission control device regenerating system for an internal combustion engine, a technology is provided that can prevent residual fuel amount from excessively being reduced during the execution of a regenerative control for regenerating the exhaust emission control capability of the exhaust emission control device by supplying fuel to the exhaust emission control device. The system comprises an instructing means that can be operated by an operator and issues a regenerative execution instruction to a regenerative control executing means to execute a regenerative control, and a notifying means for notifying the operator to let the instructing means issue a regenerative execution instruction to a regenerative control executing means. When the operator is notified by the notifying means, a regenerative execution instruction is issued to the regenerative control executing means by the instructing means and a notifying timing is controlled by the notifying means during the execution of a regenerative control by the instruction so that a residual fuel amount will not fall below a specified residual amount.
