The method of adapting linguistic speech models (6) in systems with automatic speech recognition involves evaluating a list of N best recognition result alternatives for a speech segment to be recognised during adaptation with N greater than 1. During the adaptation a combination of several recognition result alternatives is fed into the list. An Independent claim is also included for a speech recognition system.
