<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize power savings and radio savings in a carry-away prevention system for protecting an object to be protected. <P>SOLUTION: This carry-away prevention system comprises: a key element 4 for authentication, which is possessed by a specific person with legitimate authority; a locking mechanism for locking the object to be protected, so that the object to be protected cannot be carried away; a starting action detecting means 33 for outputting an authentication starting signal by detecting that the specific person or a person except the specific person takes a positive action for carrying out the object to be protected; a means 31 for authentication and control, which establishes communications with the key element 4 when the authentication starting signal is output from the means 33, and outputs an unlocking signal on necessary condition that the signal from the key element for the authentication includes unlocking authority; and a lock driving means for performing switching to a state wherein a lock can be released in an automatic or driven manner, by actuating an electric actuator, when the unlocking signal is output from the means 31.
