METHOD FOR CONTROLLING LIGHTING DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for controlling a lighting device using a digital light valve to reduce color breakup in the case of projecting moving images.

SOLUTION: The method for controlling a lighting device that consists of at least one light source (3), a color sequential device (5) and a single light valve (6) consisting of an array of light processing elements that are controlled by a plurality of bits. The method comprises steps of: emitting a light beam (11) from the light source (3); filtering the light beam (11) by the color sequential device (5) to achieve a colored light beam (12); and processing the colored light beam (12) with a bit depth of less than 16.
