PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem wherein high-resolution OSD data need to be read even for recording only when resolution conversion for recording is made after compositing the OSD, and hence power cannot be reduced. SOLUTION: When using the OSD only for recording, resolution for recording is set onto a frame memory for OSD for compositing with video after resolution conversion for recording. With this configuration, memory access is restrained and power is reduced. In a digital broadcasting receiver having an external input terminal, memories to be used are made less expensive.
