PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable vehicle number recognizing device highly efficiently acquiring vehicle information, and to provide a vehicle number recognizing method using the same. SOLUTION: The portable vehicle number recognizing device has a configuration and a weight specified considering that it is mounted on a vehicle in use. It comprises a photographing part having a plurality of photographing devices using mutually different optimum wavelengths by information to be acquired about the vehicle as a photographed object for acquiring the images of the vehicle and an image processing part for processing the images acquired by the plurality of photographing devices and extracting the information to be acquired.
