1,121,472. Riveted joints. THERMACIER. 28 June, 1965 [3 July, 1964], No. 6279/68. Divided out of 1,121,471. Heading B3U. A riveted joint comprises a cover-plate 18 over the butt-jointed edges of two plates A, A. A layer 24 of polysulphide-base rubber is interposed between the butt-jointed edges and between the plates and the cover-plate. The joint is secured by countersunk head rivets 19 locked by rings 23 which are cold deformed. The heads of the rivets are received in countersunk recesses in the side of the plates remote from the cover-plate and the rivets may be dipped in liquid sealing rubber before insertion through pre-formed holes in the plates and cover-plate. A butyl rubber cover-strip 26 is fastened over the joint by a chlorosulforated polyethylene adhesive. The use of the joint is described with reference to the construction of the metal liner of a swimming pool.
|
