<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an external storage device with higher convenience which requires no complicated removal operation with much abrasion by a special-purpose plug and connector, in data transmission between the external storage device and a computer. <P>SOLUTION: An external storage device 1 comprises a transceiver 3a for inducing an electric field based on information to be transmitted to an electric field transmission medium, detecting the electric field induced to the electric field transmission medium, and transmitting/receiving information; a transmission/reception electrode 4a covered with a dielectric film 5a; a memory for storing data transmitted/received by the transceiver 3a; and a control circuit for controlling to transmit/receive data stored in the memory between the transceiver 3a and a persona computer 2. Thus, the transmission/reception electrode 4a and a transmission/reception electrode 4b connected to a transceiver 3b which the personal computer 2 has are capacitively coupled with each other through dielectric films 5a and 5b which are electric field transmission media, so that a data transmission line is established. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
