<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight assembly in which a dark part is removed, and provide a display device including it. <P>SOLUTION: The backlight assembly 40 includes a light source 41 which emits light, and an incident face 101 of the light onto which the light emitted from the light source 41 is made incident, and which guides the light, and a diffusion region of the light is formed on the incident face 101 of the light. A matrix, and a diffusion agent which is mixed into the matrix and diffuses the incident light are included in the diffusion region of the light.
