PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid storage container, and a liquid discharge cartridge which are miniaturized, and capable of increasing the amount of liquid to be absorbed and retained by a liquid retaining means, and enhancing the reliability against a leakage of liquid. SOLUTION: A space continuous to an atmosphere communication port 15 is formed of side ribs 12 provided on an inner wall surface of a casing 11 between a second ink retaining member 51 and the inner wall surface of the casing 11. A groove-like cavity 18 communicating with the space formed in the inner wall surface of the casing 11 is formed in an abutting area of a first ink retaining member 50 on the second ink retaining member 51.
