PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a descramble processing corresponding to a scramble to be performed, and to prevent unauthorizedly copied data from being recorded and reproduced. SOLUTION: A data recording and reproducing device is equipped with; a first reproduction processing means which reproduces the data; a second reproduction processing means which receives the data processed by the first reproduction processing means, and subjects the data to the next reproduction processing; a first authentication means which subjects the first reproduction processing means to authentication; and a second authentication means which is the authentication means corresponding to the first authentication means, and subjects the second reproduction processing means to authentication, wherein the data recording and reproducing device has an authentication means different from the first and second authentication means, namely, the data recording and reproducing device is equipped with a plurality of kinds of the authentication means, and carries out the authentication corresponding to respective authentication means, thereby releases the scramble.
