PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a handrail for a sliding door, which is used for opening and closing an opening of a building, such as a paper-covered sliding door and a translucent sliding door made by pasting single sheets of white Japanese paper. SOLUTION: This handrail for the sliding door is formed in such a telescopic manner that a second handrail body is fitted into the first handrail body. Characteristically, the handrail for the sliding door comprises any one of a support member which can turn a mounting support member for the handrail for the sliding door, a vertically movable support member, and a horizontally movable support member. The handrail for the sliding door is convenient and safe for supporting walking, because even an aged person or a disabled person with weakened hands or arms can smoothly/lightly open/close the sliding door or a double sliding door with the handrail for the sliding door.
