The device has a beam of irradiating light barrier provided for a building having a transmitter (S) and a receiver (E), a screen (B). The screen interrupts the beam and releases an alarm, if basic parts of the building are deformed, shifted or bent beyond a permissible measure. The deformation provided by overloading, vibration stimulation, by earth movements or a lack of structure can interrupt the beam. The transmitters and receivers are fastened on stable supports outside of the building. In place of an irradiating light barrier a reflex light barrier is used and fastened to point E.
