PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a field emission source for planar light capable of corresponding to a large size and a thin shape, by having a front-side flat panel hard to be deformed form inner pressure. SOLUTION: An inner space between a rear-side flat panel 12 and a front-side flat panel 14 is vacuum-sealed and the front-side flat panel 14 is prevented from deformation caused by vacuum pressure with ribs 20 intercalated with an interval between the rear-side flat panel 12 and the front-side flat panel 14. A pair of wire-shaped field-emission electron emission parts are placed in opposition to each other between the adjacent ribs 20 with an anode 24 with wire-shaped phosphor in between.
