PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brush manufacturing method and a brush capable of restraining the initial wear of a brush. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method for a brush 36, a part 52 of the surface of a baked body 51 is cut. This permits a portion where second copper powder 44 is unevenly distributed to be removed, thus obtaining a new brush surface 54 (sliding surface 56) where copper powder and graphite powder are evenly distributed.
